This work stop acts much like a bench dog, but with a lower profile and a much wider bearing surface.Particularly useful with thin or narrow workpieces; the ~32mm (1-1/4″) wide anodized aluminium rail projects just 5.5mm (0.22″) above the benchtop; allowing materials as thin as 6.35 (1/4″) to be worked or planed without obstruction. It also provides a reliable registration surface for materials too narrow to span two adjacent bench dogs.
This listing is for a single ~247mm (9-3/4″) long planing stop. The two steel posts; sized to fit 19mm (3/4″) dog holes; slide along a T-track on the underside of the rail and can be spaced up to 228mm (9″) apart (center to center). We also offer a 444mm (17-1/2″) Planing Stop, available seperately.
For tasks that involve the application of horizontal force in one direction; such as planing; a single stop can be used with no additional clamping. Stops can also be placed perpendicular to one another to capture two edges of the workpiece to prevent rotation; useful when working with a larger workpiece or for cross-grain planing. A simple way to secure work without the constraints of typical clamping methods.
