Jute Micarta Scales & Sheets

Description: This material is made with layers of jute fabric and colored epoxy resin. It is not made with phenolic resins so this material will be more color stable over time than phenolic materials would be. Jute is a natural plant based material made into rough, course weave fabrics similar to burlap. Because of the coarse, open weave of the jute fabrics, composites made from it exhibit more visual depth than similar composites made from linen, or canvas material. Depending on how it is finished, the coarseness of the jute may also provide an extra element of “grippiness” when used on knife handles, pistol grips and other similar items.
